About Somatic Experiencing Therapy
“Stress is a part of life. It does not have to be a life sentence.” Peter Levine
What is Somatic Experiencing Therapy?
Somatic Experiencing (SE™) is a potent psychobiological method for resolving trauma symptoms and relieving stress.
It is the life’s work of Dr. Peter A. Levine, resulting from his multidisciplinary study of stress physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, medical biophysics, indigenous healing practices, and clinical practice.
During a session, you and I will learn how to listen with genuine curiosity and compassion to your whole being. This invites your body’s story to emerge as a wise guide alongside the verbal/visual accounts that you relay. As increased self-awareness comes “on-line”, it becomes an important resource, helping you discover and decipher what is coming from your external environment and what is coming from inside of you.
As you learn to slow down, listening without judgement to your whole being, your body wisdom emerges organically. It can guide you in creatively navigating and releasing stresses related to everyday living and support you in actualizing your life dreams with focus and passion.
Somatic Experiencing is a powerful addition or alternative to cognitive talk therapy.
