Therapy for the Heart, Mind, Body, and Spirit
Somatic Experiencing Therapy with Ann MacDonald, Bellingham, WA
What is Somatic Experiencing Therapy?
Somatic Experiencing (SE™) is a potent psychobiological method for resolving trauma symptoms and relieving stress.
It is the life’s work of Dr. Peter A. Levine, resulting from his multidisciplinary study of stress physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, medical biophysics, indigenous healing practices, and clinical practice.
During a session, we will learn to listen with genuine curiosity and compassion to your whole being. This invites your body’s story to emerge as a wise guide alongside the verbal/visual accounts that you carry. As your self-attunement comes more on-line, it becomes a resource, helping you discover and decipher what is coming from your external environment and what is coming from inside of you.
In general, increased resiliency helps in navigating stresses related to everyday living as well as re-negotiating earlier painful experiences. As your body, mind and spirit become more unified, your truest self emerges with greater ease. Life can begin to feel more relaxing and enjoyable!
When you are able to slow down, listening without judgement to your whole being, your body wisdom emerges organically. It can guide you in creatively navigating stresses related to everyday living as well as supporting you in living out your life dreams with focus and passion.
As trust in your “inner knowing” increases, your self-confidence also improves. You will soon find more effective and pleasurable ways of relating to yourself and others, and life begins to unfold with increased fluidity and ease.
